Obituary for John Howard Moore Jr.

Mr. John Howard Moore Jr. age 69, of Locust Fork passed away Saturday, July 30th, 2016 at UAB Hospital. Mr. Moore retired from both the United States Navy serving 25 years and the UAB Police Department for 17 years. He was a member of the Martha Elizabeth Eastern Star Chapter #367 & Chapter #389. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge #481, Shriners, and VFW. Mr. Moore had been involved with Boy Scouts troop #535. He was a lifetime genealogist, avid collector of coins, knives and guns. He enjoyed farming, working with his tractor, and his animals. Mr. Moore loved his church family at Center Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Carol Anita Moore; son Paul (Sonya Dee) Moore; sister Marti Moore; and grandchildren Heather Marie Moore and Judah Michael Moore. Preceded in death by his parents John Howard Moore Sr. and Martha Moore; sister Carolyn June Dorning.

The family will receive friends at the Blount County Cleveland Funeral Home 17885 State Highway 160 Cleveland, Alabama 35049 on Thursday, August 4th, 2016 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am in the Blount County Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Trafford, Alabama with Naval Military Honors.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Center Springs Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 2520 Spunky Hollow Rd, Remlap, AL 35133.
