Jay Earl Yancy, age 82, of Cleveland passed away Monday, July 20th, 2015 at his residence.

Survivors include wife Ida Mae Yancy; sons William (Joyce) Yancy, James Dixon, Ronnie Colbert, Donnie Colbert; daughters Brenda (David) Copeland, Linda Colbert, Geraldine (Randy) Battles; brother Paul Yancy; special niece and nephews Patsy Abner, Ray Dixon, Augustine Rodriguez; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and lots of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents R. Jay and Ola Mae Yancy, sons John Yancy, Infant Angel Yancy, Ricky Yancy; daughter Shirley Yancy; brother John Harris; sisters Bonnie Tidwell and Mary Yancy.

The family will receive friends at the Blount County Cleveland Funeral Home 17885 State Highway 160 Cleveland, Alabama 35049 on Friday, July 24th, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 25th, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Blount County Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Austin Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Yancy loved people --he never met a stranger, he enjoyed taking care of his yard and his garden, he was a strong, hardworking man.
